Medicare Part B covers your traditional doctor’s visits whether the doctor is a general practitioner or a specialist. In 2019 your Medicare Part B deductible is $185. After that, Medicare typically pays about 80% of the costs, leaving the other 20% for you to pay. If you need blood for any reason, you are responsible for the cost of the first three pints of blood. Medicare will pay for the rest after that.

Medicare Supplement plans are designed to pick up right where Medicare leaves off; that is, many of the plans pay some or all of your Part B Deductible, your 20% co-insurance payments, the cost of blood, etc. Supplemental plans are generally standardized but some may vary slightly state by state. Give us a call at 908-344-3931 and we can go over the differences between the plans for your state and your specific situation.
